Cisco has released new CCNA Security exam objectives. The new objectives conform to 210-260. The exam objectives are attached herewith in pdf format. Note that the objectives may change from time to time and therefore, please check with the vendor website for current exam objectives.

The old exam objectives have also been given for comparison.

Notable addition is in the areas as described below:

7.0 Content and Endpoint Security
7.1 Describe mitigation technology for email-based threats
7.1.a SPAM filtering, anti-malware filtering, DLP, blacklisting, email encryption
7.2 Describe mitigation technology for web-based threats
7.2.a Local and cloud-based web proxies
7.2.b Blacklisting, URL filtering, malware scanning, URL categorization, web application filtering, TLS/SSL decryption
7.3 Describe mitigation technology for endpoint threats
7.3.a Anti-virus/anti-malware
7.3.b Personal firewall/HIPS
7.3.c Hardware/software encryption of local data

Also, there are some additions on IPS front as below:
Describe IPS technologies
6.2.a Rules/signatures
6.2.b Detection/signature engines
6.2.c Trigger actions/responses (drop, reset, block, alert, monitor/log, shun)
6.2.d Blacklist (static and dynamic)

Otherwise, there are not many differences between the old and new objectives.

As can be seen, there are a total of only 7 objectives as against 9 in old syllabus.
1. It appears that ACL topics have been removed to a large extent in the new objectives. Content and Endpoint Security has been introduced, though some of the topics were covered in the previous exam.
2. ASDM (Cisco's Adaptive Security Device Manager (ASDM) is the GUI tool used to manage the Cisco ASA security appliances.) is used to configure VPNs in new objectives for configuring remote access VPNs.
3. A topic on OSPF routing update authentication has been added.
4. Surprisingly, there is no mention of CCP in the new objectives. All CCP references in the old objectives had been removed. It is not clear whether why Cisco has removed its flagship GUI CCP from new CCNA Sec objectives.
5. ASA 9.x has been referred to wherever ASA was mentioned. Cisco is now particular about ASA 9.x

As per members views, it appears that the new CCNA Security exam requires more hands-on practice to pass the exam. The old exam stressed more on conceptual understanding and basic skills in hardening a Cisco network. However, the new exam requires thorough knowledge of ASDM configurations as per the objectives. It is likely, that if you just study the Cisco CCNA Security Official Cert Guide, it may not be sufficient to pass the exam. Check out various resources on the web, and also the Security+ lab manual.
