Lack of hands-on experience may ensure an otherwise thoroughly prepared candidate to fail CCENT/CCNA exam. Ensure that you have access to Cisco router labs. If you don't have access to modern routers, you may try using simulated environment like Packet Tracer (available only to Academy students), or Certexams.com CCNA Network Simulator http://routersimulator.certexams.com/ or Boson Network Simulator for CCNA.

As other member mentioned earlier, CCNA Exploration is a good place to begin. But, you need to have access to Cisco Packet Tracer to use the labs.

Important things to remember when you are preparing for CCNET/CCNA:

1. Select a study guide preferably CCNA prep kit from Cisco Press

2. If you could become a Cisco Academy student, you could you use Cisco Packet Tracer, if not use any other source mentioned above.

3. Know subnetting inside out (particularly for CCENT), and switching.

4. Take some practice tests, that are different from those given in the study guide. Taking tests from a different vendor provides a different perspective and prepare  you better. Some practice tests vendors:
