1. pdf to spread sheet converter: Good

2. Open Office: (Don't go for Office 365, its a waste of money!). Its an excellent software for every day use. You can event read micrsoft office documents with open office (also save in ms office format).

3. Ubuntu/Lubuntu software: Its equivalent for Microsoft Windows OS. Though it is very good in terms of fast startup and shut down, its not as widely popular as Windows OS for desktops. If you are an enthusiast or willing to see if it fits your requirement, install it.

It is free OS and feature rich. The interface is so delightful.

4. Gimp: Its a graphical editor and very powerful, like photoshop software. Use it for all your graphical products requirement such as icons, screenshots, handouts, etc.

5. MS Studio Community Edition:
A good product from Microsoft, which they claim that its free to use (read the fine print when using Microsoft products, Microsoft is very legal savvy)

Check this free online tool for animated gif. You need to provide the images (preferably equal in size), the software will automatical cascade and provide you the animated gif. Several options are available such as delay time, fading, loop count etc. Check it out here:

Check out the following filezilla ftp client software (Open Source).

Very good FTP client software. Note that FTP client is the one that you install on your Windows computer to download or upload files to the web.
Typically, your windows computer runs the client software and the webserver runs the FTP Server software. You don't need to worry about server software, as it is done at the server end.
